March 9, 2009 update

March 10, 2009

As of 7:30 AM, exactly 0.50″ had fallen on the area. No flooding is occurring in the corner of Iowa and Hiawatha. As had been predicted, totals in excess of 1.5″ fell south of Interstate 80. A flood warning remains in effect through Wednesday afternoon; the flash flood watch has been cancelled.

The 3-day storm total is now 3.40″, roughly 150% of the monthly average. Some showers will continue throughout the morning, but not accumulate significantly.

There is a slight, although unlikely, chance of severe weather this afternoon; the main threat is damaging winds. See the Storm Prediction Center’s outlook for today here. A wind advisory is also in effect for late tonight into tomorrow morning. Winds gusting from 40 to 50 mph (or more) may topple trees on saturated ground.

A storm summary will be posted tomorrow morning.
