Above average risk of Spring flooding

March 19, 2009

The National Weather Service’s Hydrologic Infomation Center (HIC) has predicted an above-average risk of flooding for all of northeastern Illinois, for the rest of the Spring season (April and May).

The HIC has cited soils are still saturated from rain throughout the winter – up to two feet of water in the top six feet of ground – and some streams are still running high.
