Flash flooding, strong storms possible Friday, May 15, 2009

May 14, 2009

As of 8:00 AM this morning, rain gauges in Carol Stream had recorded 1.01″ to 1.03″ of rain in the past 48 hours. (Approximately 1/3 of the rain fell prior to 7 AM yesterday, with the rest falling after.) While sunshine has broken out today, another 2-3″ of rain are possible during the day tomorrow, leading to flash flooding.

With the ground remaining saturated from yesterday’s rains, amounts on the higher end of forecast totals will likely trigger flash flood warnings and cause the closure of streets in Carol Stream. Stay tuned to this blog for more details as updated rain amounts come in.

Through May 14, 1.51″ of rain has fallen in the month of May. This is about 86% of normal.
